Brushing is a very important oral hygiene task that helps you have the top-notch smile and oral health you need. If you have questions about brushing, then you might not be properly and effectively caring for your teeth and gums regularly. So, it’s important to find the answers to your questions. To help you do so, our dentist, Dr. Warren Cheung, is happy to give you the answers to the following commonly asked questions:

Q: How often should I brush?
A: It’s best to brush every morning and night (twice a day). As you scrub your teeth, do so for two minutes each time and try to brush each tooth and quadrant of the mouth equally.

Q: What tools should I use to brush?
A: It’s recommended to use fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. The fluoride toothpaste can strengthen your teeth and help you prevent cavities while the soft-bristled toothbrush can clean your smile and care for the gums.

Q: Can brushing hurt the smile?
A: Brushing can damage the smile, but only if you brush too vigorously, brush longer or shorter than two minutes and use the wrong oral hygiene tools.
